Galvanizing and powder coating describe different coating layers and can be used together. When buying livestock panels, specify whether the tube is galvanized before fabrication or the panel is galvanized afterward, whether powder coating is added, and how welds, surface preparation and packing are handled.

Compare The Process, Not Just The Color
A green livestock panel can have a galvanized steel substrate below the powder coating. A metallic-looking panel may use a different galvanizing route. Ask for the fabrication and coating sequence in the quotation so the visible finish is linked to the actual process.
The American Galvanizers Association describes paint or powder coating over hot-dip galvanized steel as a duplex system and emphasizes appropriate surface preparation. This explains why “galvanized” and “powder coated” are not always competing alternatives. See its duplex systems explanation.
Distinguish Three Finish Descriptions
| Description | What It Means | What To Ask |
|---|---|---|
| Galvanized tube before fabrication | The steel tube is galvanized before it is cut and welded into a panel. | How are cut edges, weld areas and any affected coating treated after fabrication? |
| Hot-dip galvanizing after fabrication | The fabricated panel is galvanized after the welding stage. | Is this the process being quoted, and which panel and hardware details are included? |
| Powder coating over galvanized steel | A powder layer is added over a galvanized substrate. | What preparation, powder thickness, color and adhesion checks are specified? |
These are process descriptions for comparing offers. Ask which route applies to your panel design and quotation. The distinction matters at the joints: the AGA’s guidance on welded galvanized steel explains that areas where galvanizing is removed for welding require repair. Agree the treatment of those areas with the manufacturer.
Pangdi’s Powder-Coating Reference
A common Pangdi route uses hot-dip galvanized tube, welding, shot blasting or sanding, then electrostatic powder coating. The powder coating thickness reference is 120–160 μm, with coating thickness and adhesion checked by batch. This figure refers to the powder layer, not the underlying zinc coating.
Green is a common farm and equestrian color. Red, blue, gray, black, yellow and custom color-card matching can also be discussed. Use the finish and color options to prepare your inquiry, then agree the final shade against your color reference.
Surface preparation is part of the coating specification. The AGA’s powder-coating preparation guidance describes preparation for a galvanized substrate. Discuss the agreed process and inspection points for the actual panel order; a general technical reference does not establish a particular order’s test results.
Choose Around The Installation & Handling
State where the panels will be used, whether they are exposed outdoors, how frequently they will be moved and any cleaning or storage requirements. Color preference, corrosion protection, handling and the target market all belong in the finish discussion.
- Color and appearance: provide a color card or reference and identify whether panels, gates and hardware should match.
- Outdoor exposure: describe the environment and request the coating process appropriate to the intended order.
- Repeated handling: discuss contact points, panel separation and any maintenance or touch-up instructions.
- Budget and timing: compare quotations for the same construction and quantities, with the finish and schedule listed.
Ask about the basis and conditions of any durability statement, and agree any warranty separately in the order. A service-life reference should not be treated as an unconditional promise for every environment.
Include Inspection & Packing In The Finish Decision
Pangdi’s quality checks cover surface preparation, powder thickness, adhesion and finished assembly. Include the relevant drawing, surface and connection details with your RFQ so the inspection discussion follows the quoted specification.
Packing also needs to protect the finish. Pangdi uses iron pallets, pearl cotton or foam separation, fiber straps and stretch film, with padding between pallets where required. Confirm the bundle arrangement and handling requests through the packing and container plan.
For a useful finish quotation, send the panel type, dimensions, quantity, fabrication or galvanizing preference, powder color if required, destination and intended environment. Ask for the quoted layers and process to be stated alongside the packing and production schedule.
